I was chatting with my fiancé Roland last night over a dinner of tuna and baked potatoes.
“Honey,” I said. “What would you say is the #1 most overlooked client-attraction strategy?”
(Since I’m a coach for Craniosacral Therapists and transformational healers — and he’s the former Sales & Marketing Director for The Upledger Institute — we really do nerd out about this stuff.)
He thought for a moment. Then he said, “Without a doubt, re-engaging former clients.”
Yup. We’re on the same wavelength yet again.
Why is it that strategy so overlooked, especially since it’s so effective?
Because we’re conditioned to believe that once our clients get good results from our work, they’ll call us when they need us.
But it doesn’t exactly work that way. Especially when you’re good at what you do.
You see, because you’re an “alternative” healer, chances are your clients come to you as a last resort.
They’ve been in pain, stress and disappointment for a very long time. So when they finally do get relief with your help, what do they want to do?
Get back to their lives and start living again.
And that’s wonderful. That’s the kind of freedom and empowerment you want for them. The problem is this …
Their marvelous brains love to help by blocking out their painful memories. Unfortunately, the memory of who got them out of pain gets blocked as well.
So if you’re assuming your former clients will call you for help, look in the mirror and say this out loud …
“It’s no one else’s responsibility to remember who I am and how I can help.”
Then get crackin’.Make a list of all your favorite former clients. And either call or email them using this simple script …
“Hey, you’ve been on my mind. I’m wondering, how can I support you?”
Alison, a client of mine, did this exercise with her former clients.
One of them was so touched, she turned the tables and said, “You’ve done so much for me. Now I want to do something for you.”
And she sent Alison a check for $5,000. No strings attached. Just to show her appreciation.
Alison was floored.
“WOW,” she said. “I realize how much my compassion and support is needed in this world. And how much I’ve been holding back. So I’ve decided to really let it out.”
So, where have you been holding yourself back from re-engaging with your former clients?
Remember, your re-connection may be the sign from the universe they’ve been asking for.
Shortly after I published this article in my ezine, I got this message from Alison:
“After reading your recent article, I was so inspired by my own story about reaching out to former clients and asking how can I support them that I decided to do it again.
“And guess what? I did it again! Yup, $5,000.
“And that’s just from reaching out to two former clients in the last 3 days.
“I had just opened 3 spots for a high-level private program that empowers women as Mothers to gain the confidence and ease they crave as they embody their spiritual gifts and learn how to nurture the Spirit of their kids.
“And they both stepped into it.
“I am laughing and smiling with my Soul right now. Because that article was the Divine nudge I needed to remind me of how powerful I truly am.”
